We would recomend the following starter kit and would suggest that no more than 4 -5 birds be raised on the first trial run, that time is given to see how just a few bids fit in with your daily routine and then plan from there.
An Incubation Kit
Buy the smallest incubator, the Covatutto 16 so you are involved with the eggs for the complete 21 cycle and an incubation book so that you have an insight into this wonderful hobby. A Candling lamp would assist in seeing the development of the embryotic process and perhaps a brooding lamp to keep the chicks warm when they hatch and finally a set of 20 rings to mark each chick with. Finally, since they grow quickly, you will need a feed holder and drinker.

In addition to the above you will need a permanent black marker pen and you will need to buy an infra-red bulb (in most hardware stores.) Chicks will need a shallow saucer or pudding bowl (put some pebbles in so they won't drown)for water and another for feed. After a week they can use the larger feeder/drinker. Buy chick crumbs from your local creamery and then when bigger layers pellets. Don't forget, we are on the other end of the phone.
